BYOD is for an employee to use personal equipment to perform his daily work and therefore, access the company’s intranet, business applications, messaging etc..

Google Shopping Express : Google se lance dans la livraison à domicile

Google – c’est avant tout un outil qui concerne la livraison immédiate des informations numériques, que ce soit par courriel ou par le biais des résultats du moteur de recherche. Et pourquoi ne pas  livrer alors des marchandises à domicile, aux bureaux ou aux supermarchés, comme le font Amazon et eBay, les principaux commerçants en ligne? Cette nouvelle façon de livrer les marchandises achetées par internet constitue un moyen idéal pour ceux qui veulent gagner quelques milliards de dollars de plus. Google le sait très bien et commence donc à aller dans cette direction.
Après les lunettes révolutionnaires, les montres intelligentes et les véhicules automoteurs, la prochaine étape de Google sera la livraison des produits demandés sur place. Son premier test de l’efficacité du service Google Shopping Express, le géant de recherche a décidé de le lancer dans la ville de San Francisco. La livraison s’effectue le jour de la commande  faite dans des magasins comme Target, Walgreens, Office Depot, Staples et Blue Bottle Coffee Co, etc.

Nick d’Aloisio : sur les traces de Mark Zuckerberg ?

Nick d’Aloisio, un britannique de 17 ans, est devenu en mars dernier l’un des plus jeunes millionnaires de la planète en vendant sa startup « Summly » au géant Yahoo!. Bien que non divulguée officiellement, la somme de la transaction est estimée à 30 millions de dollars.

Nick n’a que 12 ans lorsqu’il se lance dans la programmation informatique.  C’est à l’âge de 15 ans que le petit génie a la bonne idée de créer l’application « Trimit » qui permet de condenser en cinq lignes n’importe quel article trouvé sur internet, en repérant les mots clés du texte, et l’adapte à l’écran du Smartphone. Plus besoin de lire l’article en entier pour savoir s’il contient ce que l’on recherche. Cela semble pratique mais le concept est critiqué et désigné comme « la pire appli de la semaine » par le site spécialisé Gizmodo, lors de sa sortie.

Sudden rise of the virtual money “Bitcoin”

Euros, Dollars…the powerful currencies in the world are in a trusted crisis. These situations create a lot of uncertainty among people and some of them prefer trust the virtual currency “Bitcoin”. With the years the value of this new type of money has strongly increased.

What is « Bitcoin »?
The Bitcoin (BTC) is a decentralized digital currency created in 2009 by a developer known under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. It is based on an open source solution of peer to peer internet protocol. You can directly exchange your Bitcoins from your personal computer without a financial intermediate. Indeed this currency is distributed on the nodes of the network and uses a strong security with cryptography process. Everything is done to avoid the dependence from one central emitter.
Why this phenomena?
The main advantages of the Bitcoins are the anonymity for the payment and the apolitical nature of the currency. To pay something, you must use a dedicated software using cryptography keys. The money is transferred from a Bitcoin account to another. With the loss of trust and the fluctuation on the actual values (gold, national currencies…), more and more people are using Bitcoins. Recently a Canadian have released his house for 405 000 dollars or…6 750 Bitcoins (at the rate of 1 Bitcoin for 60 Dollars). He hopes to be the first to realize a property transaction with this currency.

News Corps and former NYC schools chancellor launch 10-inch Android tablets for K-12 students

News Corp rebranded its educational unit as Amplify in July. Since then the Joel Klein-headed company has been working with AT&T to develop a tablet expressly designed for the K-12 educational market. After months of testing the Amplify Tablet, an unspecified 10-inch Android slate loaded with custom software, is ready for its official debut. Lots of things have changed since we first caught a glimpse of the project many months ago. For one, the UI has been completely redesigned to be clean, modern and simple. The new look is much more in line with Google’s Holo, with extensive use of action overflow buttons, the sharing menu and solid blocks of color-coded material. The default home page offers a grid of app icons, but it also displays student information and lists « notebooks » on the right hands side. Those notebooks deliver quick access to different subjects for students, but they also give teachers direct links to materials for their classes, categorized not just by subject, but also by period. Klein and company don’t stop at simple organizational tools and reference materials, however.
