On Tuesday April 3rd , the Securities and Exchange Commission (S.E.C.), the federal agency regulating the US’s stock and options exchanges and other electronic securities markets, outlined new disclosure rules that clarify how companies can use social media.

During last December, the market regulator warned the company Netflix, whose shares are traded on the NASDAQ market, that the S.E.C. could take action against the company regarding their chief executive’s message, Reed Hastings, posted in his Facebook page. On his Facebook feed the chief executive congratulated his team for exceeding one billion hours of video watched in a single month. A l’heure où les réseaux sociaux sont incontournables, ils ne cessent pourtant d’être pointés du doigt. Les dérives sont nombreuses et souvent dramatiques. Des suicides de jeunes adolescents harcelés sur internet aux révélations d’assassinat publiées en direct sur Facebook, l’horreur n’a plus de limites et l’impunité semble beaucoup plus grande.
Les scandales ne cessent d’éclore, récemment, le suicide d’une adolescente de 14 ans en août 2013 est venu remettre en avant les dangers des réseaux sociaux. La défunte jeune fille avait reçu de nombreuses critiques, menaces et insultes sur le réseau social “ask.fm”, réseau qui permet d’intervenir de manière anonyme.
Mais ce suicide n’est pas un cas isolé, de nombreux jeunes harcelés, insultés et critiqués sur les réseaux sociaux en viennent à se donner la mort. (suite…)
A report made by ceo.com and domo shows how are used different social networks by CEOs of the fortune 500. 4 social networks have been analysed : Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and Google +.
Concerning Twitter, there are nowadays 28 Fortune 500 CEOs (5,6%) in the social media whereas they were only 18 last year. (3,6%). Among these 28 users, 67,9 % have tweeted at least once in the last 100 days with an average of 0,98 tweet per day. The most impressive entrance in the social network is Warren Buffet, having half a million followers since this year.

A press release from Facebook indicated on Friday, June 21st, 2013 several months of breakdown of software having entailed the sharing of leaks of e-mail address and telephone numbers of about 6 million users.
The origin of this bug would concern the recording of its archives via the network « Download Your Information » by a user. It would have affected the system of friends’ recommendation and downloading your personal information would have been associated to others accounts. This action would have entailed the archiving of these data, e-mail address and the phone number, of the recommended persons.
