La Cour de Justice de l’Union Européenne (CJUE) a rendu, le 13 mai dernier, un arrêt d’envergure venant reconnaître un « droit à l’oubli numérique » au profit des internautes. Par cet arrêt, la Cour a considéré que le moteur de recherche, en tant que « responsable de traitement » au sens de la Directive 95/46/CE relative à la protection des données à caractère personnel, est tenu d’examiner les demandes de déréférencement de contenus qui lui sont adressées par les internautes résidant dans l’Union Européenne.
A la suite de cet arrêt largement médiatisé, Google a, sans attendre, mis en place un formulaire de notification pour permettre l’exercice du droit à l’oubli. Ainsi les internautes peuvent désormais demander la désindexation d’un lien apparaissant dans la liste de résultats fournie après une recherche, réalisée à partir de leur nom et de leur prénom. Le moteur de recherche Bing, s’est également conformé à la décision le 17 juillet dernier en mettant en ligne son propre formulaire. (suite…)
Amazon doesn’t want to obey the increasing regulatory pressure. Instead of agreeing to an undisclosed settlement with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the Internet merchant will face the jury.
Amazon will be brought into court in the U.S. by the FTC. The consumer protection authority complained that minors are allowed to make purchases via the Amazon’s mobile apps without their parents’ consent. The FTC is seeking a court order against the company imposing refunds to the affected families. The complaining parents said that their children spent hundreds of dollars without their consent. Alors que le film « Divergente » inaugurait la nouvelle offre du réseau social, les premières estimations de prix pour une telle campagne dépasseraient le million dʼeuros. À lʼimage des tweets qui ne peuvent dépasser 140 caractères, ce format propose des vidéos de 15 secondes dont la lecture se lance automatiquement lorsque lʼencadré apparaît à lʼécran. (suite…)
On May 13, 2014, the European Court of Justice’s (ECJ) ruled against Google, imposing the implementation of the “right to be forgotten”. Since June 26, 2014, Google has begun dereferencing web pages at the request of its users. It is now the turn of other search engines to comply with the new European rule.

Though they have taken their time, the search engines Bing and Ask have decided to follow Google’s lead in enforcing the right to be forgotten. The implementation of this right by Ask and Bing ensues from users’ requests to have damaging content dereferenced by these search engines as well as Google. In a post published on July 15th 2014, Google’s Online Security blog announced the launch of Project Zero, a team of “best practically-minded security researchers” – hackers – to work in favour of internet security.
The aim of this team and project is to put an end to major internet vulnerabilities and making sure “you [are] able to use the web without fear that a criminal or state-sponsored actor […] exploiting software bugs to infect your computer, steal secrets or monitor your communications.” (suite…)
