A startup in Marseille has developed a brain-machine interface to control a computer by thinking. This technological advance was welcomed by President Emmanuel Macron on May 31, 2024. Via his X account, the Head of State congratulated the startup for writing and publishing the first tweet by thought, calling this feat «French pride».
The Starup Inclusive Brain aims to develop inclusive technologies that allow people with disabilities to control their computers or any connected object through simple thought. The prototype put forward by the company is based on the functioning of a digital twin of the brain transforming the bio-signals and brainwaves emitted by the body into digital instructions.
Once again, artificial intelligence is used to make this digital twin work. Thanks to algorithms and different brain sensors, the AI will then analyze and transform the brain’s electrical waves in order to convert them into concrete commands. Unlike Neuralink, this technology is non-invasive since the data is collected through a plastic band containing several sensors capable of detecting brain activities.
This feat also attracted attention during the passage of the Olympic flame in Marseille, where Nathalie Lebrégère was able to carry the torch thanks to an exoskeleton.
Inclusive Brain, a true French pride, offers anyone, regardless of their physical or cognitive condition, the opportunity to quickly and effectively transcribe their thoughts.Technology continues to be an effective way to increase human capacity.
