The metaverse, a new “mystery” that will completely change our world.
While candidates are being more and more qualified with higher education, experience, and language proficiency, job seekers are also being stricter and pickier when choosing their new potential co-workers.
How is the metaverse affecting the workplace environment? Is it going to make the employment procedure even more complicated? or will it offer new opportunities for both employers and employees?
Metaverse and its benefits
Both sides of the table face difficulties when we talk about the world of employment. The metaverse has come to change the course of this procedure and companies are starting to increase their interest in the digitalization of the recruiting space. Their mindset is largely open to looking for new virtualized techniques to attract better candidates while saving a lot of time and money.
Choosing to recruit in the metaverse can offer a distinctive and unique candidate experience.
As an example, we can see that many companies are using the metaverse for creating virtual recruitment fairs that will allow candidates to discover companies, apply for jobs, and talk with recruiters while sitting on their couches.
Employees can also choose to represent themselves by their “avatar” which can be used in order to decrease the level of discrimination and racism in recruiting, thus, better objectivity.
That being said, candidates will be less stressed and will see this process as a fun, interactive way to apply for jobs.
The application process can also be tailored to each job seeker, giving each and every one of them a unique and enjoyable experience with fewer formalities.

Furthermore, while being immersed in the metaverse, companies can also allow candidates to virtually visit their office and have a tour of their workplace. That way, future employees can experience what it is like to work in this company and therefore make better decisions with the job applications. Additionally, employers will be able to assess candidates’ talents, skills, culture, and adaptation to the work environment this way.
The virtual recruitment process will attract better open-minded candidates with higher motivational standards and technological knowledge. All this while lowering the costs of companies and optimising their time.
Better work environment
Stage one is the application process, and stage two will represent the benefits of the metaverse in day-to-day life at work.
In this virtual world, people can express their feelings, and show emotions and facial expressions.
When we think about it, introverted or shy people can have difficulties expressing what they really feel like. And sometimes, we fear our co-workers or manager’s reactions regarding what we are going to say or do. The metaverse will allow people to be more impulsive, and natural and make rational decisions.
Moreover, during breaks at work, people can spend time together in the metaverse, go grab a coffee, walk in the park, and develop connections, in contrast to what they can normally do while working from home and having regular video calls, for example.
Working in the Metaverse is basically operating in an interactive environment and experimenting with totally different dimensions of collaboration while using the latest advanced technologies and AI features.
This applied science can accelerate learning processes and save plenty of time (workers will no longer need to walk miles from one office to another for example).
What about new emerging jobs?
Jobs in The Metaverse – AR Jobs & VR Jobs (themetaversejobs.com)
By 2027, Meta’s goal is to have hired more than 10 000 engineers in Europe only for creating this virtual world.
And by 2030, it is said that 85% of jobs that will be occupied do not even exist as of yet. Thus, it is quite hard to predict how this will evolve.
However, when we look deeply into the metaverse, we can see that it is in need of AR & VR engineers, 3D designers of the immersive experiences, blockchain engineers for including the crypto-currency in the metaverse, as well as software developers, data architects and many more.
Is there a hidden scary part?
The Metaverse is only being started yet and progress is yet to come. But still, we can see from now on that the industry is developing endless opportunities, some of which we do not know yet.
Now, all we know is that this ecosystem is bringing together employers and candidates and is looking beneficial for both sides.
The world is changing, and this technology will surely change the way we live and work.
With all the advantages that digitalisation brings, can we not also think of ways that this technology could demolish people’s hopes and dreams – By making it harder for people to find jobs, circulating unprotected data, and many other issues.
