Google to Finally Make Rich Communication Service the Native Format for Messages around the World

Is it the end of text messages as we know it? In Barcelona, at the Mobile World Congress, Google announced on the 23rd of March 2017 the approval by many carriers and device manufacturers to make RCS the new native format for phone messaging on any android device – including wearables – by interconnecting with Jibe, the Google cloud plateform for messages. Incorporating new functions as group chat, live video, file sharing or payment, it will compete with IP-based instant messaging without any applications to be downloaded, it is likely to create new uses for users and a new market to tackle, far beyond plain text. Hotmail devient Outlook.com

Depuis le19 février 2013, la messagerie Hotmail laisse progressivement place à Outlook.com. Face à la concurrence de Gmail, Microsoft souhaite ainsi mettre en place un «webmail moderne».

Initialement lancé en version bêta, ce service a déjà été adopté par 60 millions d’utilisateurs dont la majeure partie est satisfaite. Le passage à Outlook.com devient, à partir de ce jour, obligatoire et les utilisateurs qui se connecteront à Hotmail verront tous leurs contacts, messages et autres éléments transférés vers le nouveau Outlook.com, sans aucun risque.
