IBM vend sa division serveurs « x86 » 1,7 milliards d’euros au chinois Lenovo

Les géants américains de l’informatique sont amenés en ces temps de crise à recentrer leur activité. Ces difficultés semblent toucher principalement  les industriels de l’ouest, à contrario les entreprises asiatiques connaissent, pour la plupart, une insolente croissance. Dans une optique de développement le chinois Lenovo vient de racheter les serveurs d’entrée de gamme d’IBM.

IBM se restructure et Lenovo continue son expansion.

Après des mois de rumeurs, les noms de Dell ou Fujitsu circulant aux cotés de celui de Lenovo, l’annonce officielle vient d’avoir lieu ce jeudi 23 janvier 2014. Big Blue vend sa division serveur « x86 » au chinois pour 2,3 milliards de dollars dont 2,07 en cash, comprenant également le transfert de 7500 employés au profit de l’acquéreur. Une transaction qui permet à la compagnie de l’empire du milieu de conforter son implantation dans le secteur de l’informatique professionnelle ; sous réserve que cet accord soit approuvé par les autorités dont la Commission des investissements étrangers aux Etats-Unis. Fujitsu Laboratories has developed a next generation of interface, which can accurately detect the users’ finger and what it is touching, creating an interactive touch screen, like a system, using objects in the real word

This new interface is called FMA1127 – a touch sensor controller that converts capacitance generated between the human body and a conductive touch pad to digital data without any analog signal processing. Touch sensor technology compares reference and sensor input impedances to detect touch – all in the digital domain.

E-health: measuring your heart rate in real time with your smartphone!

Fujitsu has introduced a technological innovation in health, allowing a person to assess and monitor his heartbeat in a few seconds. A useful smartphone application in terms of telehealth.
On March 18, the Fujitsu Company introduced at the “General Conference of the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers” (Japan), a technology to measure a person’s pulse rate in real time using a built-in camera or webcam in a smartphone or tablet.
By using a natural and chemical phenomenon, the technology is able to evaluate facial images captured by the camera and integrated in the mobile terminal, and to analyze them. In fact, the human face undergoes variations of lights that are caused by the absorption of green lights by hemoglobin composing the blood flow in our body.
