The future of the gaming
On June 12, Sony finally showed what the next-generation PlayStation 5 console would look like. Unexpectedly for many, the console will be predominantly in white with a black insert in the middle. The color scheme of the gamepad matches the design of the console.
The appearance of the PS5 is quite unusual, especially given the conservative design of its closest competitor in the face of the Xbox Series S, which is a black box. Unsurprisingly, social media users decided to joke about the next-generation console, comparing it to various home appliances of similar color.
PS5 can be positioned both vertically and horizontally – for this there is a special stand.
The console will be available in two versions – one with a 4K Blu-ray drive, and the second without, designed only for games in a digital format. The latter looks much narrower due to the lack of a floppy drive.
In addition, as part of the presentation, Sony presented a wireless headset, HD camera and remote control, made in the same style.
At the moment, rumors say that the version with the BR-drive will cost 500 €, and the youngest 400 €.
Its first competitive advantage is its ultra-fast SSD storage with a capacity of 825 GB. If a PS4 disk takes 20 seconds to load 1 GB, then a PS5 only 0.27 seconds. In addition, support for ray tracing technology, graphics display in 8K (provided that a TV is compatible with this resolution) and 4K at a frequency of 120 Hz are claimed. The console will use a powerful new 3D sound engine that is capable of delivering surround audio and more accurate positioning, even through conventional TV speakers.
The PS5 is expected by the end of 2020, to the start of the pre-holiday season.
From the latest news, Sony decided to prepare 10 million copies, the company believes that because of the Corona virus, many will still sit at home, and there should be enough consoles for everyone.
