The growth created by chatbots doesn’t falter. According to the consulting Agency in conversational digital communication, the amont of the chatbot market is estimated at $ 994.5 million in 2024.
A chatbot is an automated conversational agent that collects informations through questions and answers. The goal is to help the user to obtain the desired answer throughout a predefined course.
More generally, a bot is a software program that  automatically aimed at a specific task.
Once this technology is adapted in the legal sector, it will allow us to obtain some standard legal advices or to put the user in contact with a lawyer specializing in a particular field in order to obtain a response corresponding to his exepectations.  For the most advanced chatbots, they will be able to collect the informations of the applicant to produce and automate a tailor-made legal document.
The chatbot is basically a transfer of competence leading to an increase in the simplicity of the exchanges.
If these conversational robots were set up now to simply understand a text, they will be activated in the future to the sound of the voice of the user including voice assistance. The objective is to be able to offer specialized expertise on an ever wider range of services.
Thus, for a legal consultation the user isn’t in contact with a lawyer but with the robot software that will guide him 24 hours a day, even when the cabinet is closed. He will pre-process the requests and classify the information according to the responses of the user.
Towards the disappearance of the legal professions ?
This practice is therefore controversial, since it puts aside the ethical  relationship between the lawyer and his client. However it must be remembered that this relationship is not completely ruled out, simply pushed back the time to know the expectations of the customer.
However, this solution is more advantageous financially, and faster for anyone requiring legal advice. This is the case of the US bot DoNotPay which gives notice to users on several areas of law. While this possibility seems to be revolutionary, it is not democratized. Lawyers retain a prominent place to address the needs of their clients, as their actions are necessary in many areas.
Other alternatives to the lawyer still present at the beginning of the proceedings. This is particularly the case of the firm Legalix, which won the jury prize for the fourth edition of the 2017 Innovation Award. In fact, for personalized legal acts, the user orders and receives immediately the form adapted to his request. Once information is received, a lawyer will take charge of the file and writes the necessity act within 72 hours.
